Although there are a lot of breakfast places established around Teacher’s Village and Sikatuna, one cannot miss π Breakfast and Pies. It is nestled along Malingap St., just beside Pino Resto Bar. Like the other breakfast joints that Jason and I tried, π Breakfast and Pies is not that spacious but they certainly have one of the best interiors. The place was not that homey for it had that hipster touch. We browsed through their menu upon arriving and chose to order their caramelized spam, longsilog, chocolate cookie dough pancake, and smores π.
10-15 minutes after we placed our orders, the food arrived. Their plates were big and the servings were too. My caramelized spam came with garlic fried rice, kimchee, pesto, and scallions. I requested that my five-minute egg be friend and I was glad that they obliged. The spam was served in thick cube cuts but a small part of me felt deceived with the “caramelized” label because the spam was not that sweet and caramel-like for my taste buds. I say it was okay because it still filled my tummy despite its lack of sweetness.
Jason was too excited to eat his longsilog when it arrived reason for me to be not able to take a good photo of it. From his facial expression when he took his first bite, I am sure that what he got was good. I was able to take a bite of the Vigan, Lukban, and Cebu inspired longganisa and it was really good and tasty! The rice that came with the longganisa was infused with taba ng talangka or aligue and definitely made the meal flavorful. This high cholesterol meal also came with a five-minute egg and atchara.
Jason and I are huge fans of cookie dough and π Breakfast and Pies definitely brought us to cookie dough heaven. Their 3-pc chocolate cookie dough pancake, served with chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, and whipped cream, was thick and tasty. Just like the typical cookie dough, it was sticky and sweet! Although we were too full from our mains, we finished the pancakes because they were really good!
Although we were too full from our mains and pancakes, our π Breakfast and Pies experience would not be complete without trying one of their pies. We decided to order their Smores π and quite to my dismay the serving was small for 135 pesos. The homemade marshmallow and chocolate fudge was okay but the graham crust crumble easily. There was nothing spectacular about this particular pie but I believe that their other pies are better than what we purchased.
Aside from the breakfast meals and their pies, they also serve different cookies and breads. Check out their Facebook page for info and updates: https://www.facebook.com/breakfastnpies. Although I found our trip to π Breakfast and Pies satisfactory, Jason still recommends this place because of the generous servings and the atmosphere of the place. I will go back to this breakfast place to try their other meals and hopefully feel beyond satisfactory.
